January 7, 2021 - The pandemic may have forced the cancellation of the company’s annual Wildlife Habitat Council photo contest, but thanks to the numerous photos from nine years of past competitions, it won’t cancel the company’s appearance in the Wildlife Habitat Council’s 2021 Weekly Engagement Calendar.
December 31, 2020 - Indonesia's Department of Public Health has bestowed its highest recognition to PT Freeport Indonesia for its workplace protocols and efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the Mimika Regency of Papua, Indonesia, where Freeport-McMoRan’s Grasberg mining complex is located.
December 24, 2020 - Freeport-McMoRan is pleased to announce the Copper Mark has been awarded to its first three sites: the Cerro Verde mine in Peru, the El Abra mine in Chile and the Atlantic Copper smelter and refinery in Spain.

The award recognizes significant advancements that use innovation to improve mine safety through technology or improved processes.

October 27, 2020 - At dusk, bats fly out of Eagle Creek Bat Cave so fast it’s just a blur of movement.
Located in Morenci, Ariz., operations’ backyard, it’s one of the most important maternity colonies of Mexican free-tailed bats in the Southwest. It’s also a point of pride for Freeport-McMoRan conservation and education efforts, especially during International Bat Week, October 24-31.
October 23, 2020 - The magic moment happened sometime on September 30, when Safford’s Hydromet team pulled up what could have been just another batch of copper cathode.
Except this batch contained the 2 billionth pound of copper harvested since commencing operations in 2007.
Photos were taken all around to commemorate this milestone in Safford’s history, then the team got back to work on the next billion pounds. Notably, the accomplishment was reached earlier than expected.
