Mr. Higgins has over 40 years of experience in the metals industry, including over 30 years with the company. Douglas Currault, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, is responsible for leading the company’s legal, compliance and regulatory affairs globally. In his role, he is the chief legal advisor and counsel to the senior leadership team and Board of Directors. Mr. Currault, who has over 15 years with the company, also has supervision of U.S. government relations. Before joining the company, he served over 12 years as outside counsel with extensive experience in corporate and transactional matters, including key roles in all of the company’s major transactions.

Atlantic Copper President Javier Targhetta Receives Medal of the City

March 4, 2022 - Atlantic Copper President Javier Targhetta recently received the Medal of the City from the city of Huelva in recognition of the company’s contributions to the region’s economic development over the past half century.

Huelva Mayor Gabriel Cruz presented the award to Targhetta at an event held at Gran Teatro as part of the San Sebastian 2022 Patron Saint Feast Days in Huelva, Spain.

PT Freeport Indonesia Team Wins Captain’s Trophy at National Fire and Rescue Competition

February 21, 2022 - PT Freeport Indonesia’s Emergency Preparedness and Response team won a third consecutive Captain’s Trophy and other awards at the 2021 Indonesian Fire and Rescue Competition in early December.  

The event, held in Yogyakarta in central Java, gave teams the opportunity to share and demonstrate international best practices in emergency rescue. Thirteen teams from mining companies gathered to compete in this year’s competition, which grades the teams’ work through a simulated accident scenario.

PT Freeport Indonesia Smelter Workers Surpass 2 Million Injury-Free Hours

February 16, 2022 - A workforce that now stands at more than 1,300 has spent more than 2 million hours constructing the new PT Freeport Indonesia smelter at Gresik, and every one of those 2 million hours has been worked without a lost-time injury.

That’s a number worth celebrating on a job the size and scale of the $3.2 billion Manyar Smelter and Manyar Maju Refinery project. A decade in the planning and now 2 million hours in the making, Manyar is going up in a special industrial zone in northeast Java.
