Around the Company in Pictures: Improving quality of life one tree at a time
July 11, 2022 - About 25 company employees and family members recently gathered to support the company’s Global Volunteer Month efforts by planting more than 80 native trees near the Chilean capital of Santiago.
The group planted the trees at the Laura Vicuña Sanctuary, located on the slope of Renca Hill, just north of Santiago. After listening to an educational talk, volunteers formed work groups led by experts in proper planting techniques and planted tree species such as Huingán, Espino, Quebracho, Quillay, Romerillo and Algarrobo.
Wildlife Photo Contest Winners Announced
July 7, 2022 - Photos of a proud looking male Black Sunbird at PT Freeport Indonesia and a slender-legged vicuña on a stroll near El Abra took the top two spots in the company’s 12th annual wildlife photo contest.
Members of Freeport’s Biodiversity Task Force selected the winning images from more than 350 employee entries showing diverse wildlife ranging from three doe-eyed deer at Fort Madison, Iowa, to two seemingly smiling singing dogs at PTFI to one impressive web-weaving banana spider in New Orleans.
PT Freeport Indonesia Wins National Award for Sustainable Business Practices
July 1, 2022 - PT Freeport Indonesia recently received the nationally recognized Sustainable Business Practices Award in the Highly Commended Category, making it one of the 20 companies and the only one from Papua getting recognition for its sustainable practices in the business sector.
External Assurance
External reasonable-level assurance reviews occur at each of our active mining and metals processing operations every three years for purposes of maintaining the Copper Mark and/or Molybdenum Mark and confirming each site is upholding ICMM Performance Expectations. Certain of our larger mining operations also undergo limited-level assurance more frequently to support our disclosures and overall responsible production performance.

Audits and Assessments
To facilitate implementation of our policy commitments and objectives, we use a combination of audit and assessment programs along with an annual program for corporate and site-level third-party assurance of our sustainability framework – including ICMM’s enhanced Mining Principles and the Copper Mark assurance framework.
