February 23, 2024 - The Copper Club, Inc. has announced Kathleen Quirk, President of Freeport-McMoRan, as the 2024 Ankh Award recipient. The award will be presented at The Copper Club’s Annual Dinner on June 12, at The Plaza Hotel in New York.

February 21, 2024 - Freeport-McMoRan is one of the best places in the United States to work, according to new rankings by Forbes Magazine.

Freeport was recognized on the Forbes America’s Best Large Employers 2024 list, which the publication describes as a “resource to both job seekers and to companies that are interested in learning how their competitors are performing in regard to employee satisfaction.”

February 8, 2024 - For the fifth time and second consecutive year, Freeport-McMoRan has been selected as one of America’s 100 Most JUST Companies based on evaluations of what the public views as the most important and responsible business behaviors.

Freeport finished 91st overall, first in the Basic Resources category and first among the 11 companies in that category for dealing with workers, communities and the environment.

January 18, 2024 - A new solar power plant built with the help of Freeport-McMoRan’s El Abra mine in Chile is providing electricity to about 100 independent miners near the city of Tocopilla, while cutting carbon emissions.

January 9, 2024 - The artisans at Freeport-McMoRan’s Miami, Ariz., smelter recently created a “copper coral” sculpture and custom display case that were donated to the National Mining Association and now adorn the organization’s lobby in Washington, D.C.

The copper casting was done by Victor Melendez, Supervisor, Smelter Operations, and Rafael Anaya, Smelter Operator II. Melendez learned the technique from a former supervisor in 2013 and has produced more than 100 pieces of the artwork since.

January 5, 2024 - Hundreds of trees removed from around the Henderson mill in Colorado for fire protection are being repurposed to help a pair of projects that will enhance the aquatic habitats and restore the unencumbered flow of the Colorado River near the company’s operations.

December 15, 2023 - Freeport-McMoRan’s work to help ensure the continuous flow of the Verde River in central Arizona has been recognized with the Arizona Mining Association’s highest honor.
