Freeport was selected as a Most Honored Company by Institutional Investor, a magazine and website that covers the global investment industry. The company finished first in seven of the eight categories in the metals and mining sector. The company’s board of directors was selected as the best company board in the category.

Also in the mining sector, Richard Adkerson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, was named best CEO; Maree Robertson, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, was ranked as the top CFO; and David Joint, Vice President, Investor Relations, was first in the IR Professional category.

Freeport also was rated as having the Best Investor Relations (IR) Program and Best IR Team. The company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices also ranked first in the industry.

“Freeport is broadly viewed as the ‘go to’ name in copper,” Joint said.  “We actively engage with financial analysts and investors throughout the year to ensure the Freeport investment opportunity is well understood by Wall Street. This recognition as a Most Honored Company in Institutional Investor’s 2024 All-America Executive team rankings is a vote of confidence in our executive team, IR and ESG programs and overall strategy of being foremost in copper.”

The rankings were based on surveys conducted by Institutional Investor of buy-side analysts and money managers and sell-side researchers at securities firms and financial institutions that cover the region. More than 3,400 money managers and buy-side analysts, and over 320 sell-side researchers, provided feedback.

Among the factors that were considered in judging the top companies were their service and communication, authority and credibility, responsiveness, business and market knowledge, and the consistency and quality of their financial disclosures. In all, 1,400 companies were nominated across 44 sectors.
