October 24, 2024 - PT Freeport Indonesia captured awards in four categories during the recent Good Mining Practices Awards hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Presented annually, the Good Mining Practices Awards recognize businesses in the mining industry for their exemplary mining practices. The awards are aimed to encourage and motivate companies to excel in key areas such as mining techniques, safety management, environmental management, minerals and coal conservation, and standardization and business services in mining.

PTFI was recognized in the following categories:

  • Technical Management of Mineral and Coal Mining. This award recognizes PTFI for adhering to technical management practices in line with regulations and standards throughout the 2023 appraisal period.
  • Management of Coal Mining and Mineral Conservation. This award recognizes the company’s effective strategies for conserving mineral and coal resources.
  • Standardization and Services Management of Minerals and Coal Mining. This award acknowledges PTFI’s efficient application of strict operating standards, which have positively contributed to the development of Indonesia’s mining industry.
  • Environmental Management of Minerals and Coal Mining. This award – given to private businesses that hold legal and ongoing permits and licenses, specifically for mining activities – was presented to PTFI for exceptional environmental stewardship and commitment to sustaining the ecosystems in which it operates.

“Thank you for the recognition bestowed on Freeport Indonesia,” said PTFI President Director Tony Wenas. “These (awards) will further bolster our commitment to increasing operating standards in all aspects, whether technical, related to conservation, standardizing or environmental management.”
