Mr. Lance serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of ConocoPhillips, one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production companies. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer from May 2012 until his retirement in September 2026. He has over 40 years of executive and operational experience in the oil and natural gas industry. His previous ConocoPhillips executive assignments included responsibility for international exploration and production, regional responsibility at various times for Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America, and responsibility for technology, major projects, downstream strategy, integration and specialty functions. Mr. Lance is former Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute and currently serves on its Executive Committee. He is a member of the Business Council and currently serves as Chair of the National Petroleum Council and as a trustee of the board of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Mr. Lance was named Energy Executive of the Year for 2025 by Energy Intelligence. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Technological University. Mr. Lance joined the FCX Board in November 2021.
