Brady Ellison Wins Olympic Silver and Bronze
August 4, 2024 - In a dramatic final match, Brady Ellison today claimed the silver medal in men’s individual recurve archery at the Paris Olympics.
Brady Ellison, the son of Alfred Ellison, a senior supervisor at the company’s Miami, Ariz., site, narrowly missed the gold medal as the final match against South Korea’s Kim Woo-jin had to be settled in a shoot-off after the competition remained tied after five rounds. Kim won 6-5 as his final shot scored a perfect 10, while Brady Ellison’s final shot scored 9, missing the middle circle by just 0.21 inches.
“I’m not upset that he barely beat me in that shoot-off,” Brady Ellison said in a story posted on the USA Archery website. “We shot like champions, and that’s what it’s all about.”
The respect was mutual.
“If Messi and Ronaldo are the best in soccer, then maybe we are the best duo in archery,” Kim said in a story posted on NBC’s Olympic website.
Today’s silver medal follows a bronze medal-winning performance in Friday’s mixed team archery event. Brady Ellison and Casey Kaufhold defeated the team representing India 6-2 to capture Team USA’s first ever mixed archery medal in the Olympics.
“He’s my rock,” Kaufhold said of Brady Ellison’s mentorship in an Associated Press story. “Any nerves I had, he talked me through every single moment. I couldn’t ask for a better mixed team partner. He’s brought so much wisdom into my archery. I can’t thank him enough for everything.”
With this weekend’s haul, Brady Ellison has captured three silver and two bronze medals from five Olympic Games.
