The "Analysis of the Impact of Cerro Verde Mining Company in the Economy of Arequipa and Peru" study, conducted by Apoyo Consultoria, was completed in August 2015. The study aimed to identify and estimate the impact of Cerro Verde’s activities on the local Arequipa and national economy from 2005-2014. The study concluded that Cerro Verde has had a significant impact (direct and indirect) in both the regional and national economies in terms of employment, family income, tax revenue and resources to local governments. Cerro Verde’s operations and investments generated an average impact (direct and indirect) of two percent of Peru’s national GDP through linkages with other sectors. Cerro Verde’s contributions enhance economic activity in Arequipa and the country through its domestic purchases.
